Dating Over 40 in Kelowna: For People With a Life Already Built

Dating at 40 is not dating at 25 with more experience. It is a different problem entirely. You have a career that takes real hours, a home, possibly children, friendships that matter, and a life that works. You are not looking for someone to build a life from scratch with. You are looking for someone who fits the life you have built, and adds to it. Most of the ways people are told to meet someone were designed for a stage of life you have already completed.

Why Kelowna feels smaller than it is

Kelowna is large enough to have everything you need and small enough that everyone seems to know everyone. In your forties, that cuts both ways. The colleague of a colleague, the parent from your child's school, the client you would rather stay a client: the local dating pool overlaps with your professional and family life in ways that make casual dating feel exposed. Many people we speak with are not short of confidence. They are short of a way to meet someone that does not involve their whole community watching.

The apps make that worse, not better. Your profile sits in the same feed your staff, your clients and your neighbours scroll. And the format itself, photos and a few lines judged in seconds, is almost designed to filter out exactly the qualities that matter at this stage: steadiness, humour, a life in order.

What people in their forties actually tell us

The pattern is consistent. Time is the scarcest thing they own, so evenings spent on conversations that go nowhere feel genuinely expensive. They know what they want and, just as clearly, what they do not. And they are not interested in performing singleness in public, at events or online, to find it. What they want is a small number of well chosen introductions, arranged privately, by someone who has met both people and thought about the fit.

That is a reasonable thing to want. It is also, not coincidentally, a description of matchmaking.

How a matchmaker changes the equation

A matchmaker handles the search for you. There is no database to scroll and no profile of yours on display anywhere. The work starts with a real conversation about your life as it is now: your work, your family, what a good partnership looks like in this chapter. Anyone you are introduced to has been met, vetted, and considered against that conversation, including personal character references. The same applies to you, which is part of why it works: everyone in the process has been taken seriously.

If you would like to see what the first step involves, our guide to what happens in a matchmaking consultation explains the conversation in detail, and our article on how much a matchmaker costs in Kelowna sets out the pricing honestly.

How Signature Introductions works

Signature Introductions is a private matchmaking practice in Kelowna, run by Sam and Hailey Hull, the team behind Speed Dating Kelowna. After an application, the process begins with a private 90 minute consultation. Then comes thorough vetting, and then the search itself: introductions hand picked and arranged personally, with close follow up after each one. Your feedback shapes the search as it goes. Members also have a private member portal and monthly member events, where they can meet other members in a relaxed setting without any of it being public.

Membership is a single tier at $300 a month with a three month minimum. No five figure contracts, no tiers to decode, and no obligation beyond the minimum term. We would rather the fit be right than the contract be long.

About the people behind the practice

Speed Dating Kelowna has been running for a year, with more than 100 events and a community of over 3,000 local singles. Running those rooms teaches you what makes people comfortable, what makes an introduction land, and what does not. Signature Introductions grew out of that experience, for the people who told us they wanted something more personal and more private than an event.

The work has been recognised locally: Gold for Best New Business and Bronze for Best Event Planner at the Best of Kelowna 2026 awards, and Hailey received Bronze for Best Customer Experience at the Peaks to Vines awards. Trust matters when you hand someone a part of your life this personal, and you should know who you are dealing with.

A final thought

Being selective in your forties is not a problem to fix. It is the natural result of having built a life you are not willing to disrupt for the wrong person. The answer is not to lower the bar or to spend more hours swiping. It is to search properly, in private, with help. If that sounds like the way you would rather do this, the first step is simple, and it stays between us.
